Software Engineer, reference number VN005-2017

A vacancy for a Software engineer has arisen within Qascom in Bassano del Grappa, Veneto, Vicenza. You will join our engineering department. As a key member of the engineering and software team you will be responsible for the design, development and revision of software for ground space equipment and system simulators, particularly for the Galileo program. You will report to the head of engineering. The responsibility will include the definition of system and subsystem requirements and generation of full architectural specifications ensuring software development meets ESA/NASA and space standards. This position might require clearance from pending charges (carichi penali pendenti).

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
· All process of software engineering including participations to Software requirements review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR) and Test Readiness Review (TRR).
· All processes of software developments, including design, development, unit testing and system integration and verification.
· Be responsible for architecture decisions relating to new software and system developments as well as enhancing current baseline operational systems.
· Ensuring best practice within the team including coding and software quality standards applicability.
· Maintenance and improvements to existing environment and system performances, with specific emphasis to real time and critical systems
· Requirements capture and analysis and generation of architectural design documentation
· Generation of roadmap for internal software developments and product evolutions
This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills & background

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
· Degree in software engineering or computer science
· Minimum 2 years of industrial experience in software engineering and development.
· Programming in C, C++ and .Net environments
· Programming in Matlab
· Good knowledge of English

Young Graduate Engineer, reference number VN006-2017

A vacancy for a young graduated engineer has arisen within Qascom in Bassano del Grappa, Veneto, Vicenza. You will join our engineering department. As a young member of the engineering and software team you will cooperate with team involved in the design, development and revision of software for ground space equipment and system simulators, particularly for the Galileo program. You will report to a senior engineer and project managers who will provide you the adequate training and support for your professional growth and carrier. Your role will include the support to the team in the definition of system and subsystem requirements and generation of full architectural specifications ensuring software development meets ESA/NASA and space standards. This position will allow you to learn and understand high level engineering processes and procedures as the one applicable in the space sector. This position might require clearance from pending charges (carichi penali pendenti).

Software developer in the field of ground and space systems, reference number SW005

The candidate will develop software systems as part of European Space Agency ( ESA) and European Commission ( EC ) contracts on both ground segment and space segment simulators and components.

Activities include in detail

Support to project managers for software design and development of the security testbed.
· Development of test systems in a PC environment (Windows / Linux), distributed systems, client - server applications
· Implementations of DSP algorithms from Matlab to real time software modules, together with the Signal Division Qascom.
· Developing run-time software modules and real-time decoding and data application analysis.
· Support to the requirements specification phase , design and verification and validation of software subsystems according to ECSS aerospace standards.
· Participation in the European research projects and work in inter - disciplinary teams

Skills

· Preferably degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering . Alternatively degree in Telecommunication and Electronic Engineering if specialized in software. PhD is welcome.
· Excellent knowledge of software architecture design and development methodologies , design patterns , concurrent and multi -threading systems. Knowledge of software engineering processes and software life cycle.
· Good knowledge of programming languages ​​C, C ++, Matlab
· Knowledge of C #, Java
· Focus on research and development and ability to work in team and in international context.
· Good knowledge of English spoken and written.
Excellent ability to learn new processes and science and technology domain.
Optional Knowledge of software engineering in the space segment.
The candidate must have EU citizenship and be free of penal charges.
